Updated Review- Wet n Wild Primers and Setting Spray

Hey everyone!!

I hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend. We had a great weekend, we took our daughter to look at the cows on my in-laws dairy farm. She thought they were all kitties. It was so cute and funny.

Well, not to long ago I did a review on the Wet n Wild face primer and setting spray. I don’t think I gave them a fair shot. So, I have been continuously using them, to see if I was wrong and these are actually good.

I’m happy to say, I was very wrong. These are actually really good.

Wet n Wild Coverall Primer- I think the reason I didn’t think this worked was because I didn’t put it far enough up on my forehead and when I started to sweat all my makeup came right off. Lately every time I use this , I make sure that I put it all over my face and not just on areas that I think my makeup disappears. This has helped tremendously and I have not had any problems with my makeup melting off my face. This is definitely a keeper and an affordable alternative to more expensive makeup primers.

Wet n Wild Photofocus Eyeshadow Primer- I have been a huge fan of the Wet n Wild Fergie eyeshadow primer and when I recently ran out, I was really hoping that this was the same formula and I’m happy to report that it is the sameor I should say, it feels like tha same. I never have any creasing and my eyeshadow stays put all day long. I don’t normally have greasy lids but my shadows do crease. Before the Wet n Wild Fergie eyeshadow primer, I always used Urban Decay eyeshadow primer and this is just as good and way cheaper. Yay!! I love finding good dupes for high end makeup. I will repurchase this until they stop making it, which I hope is never.

Wet n Wild Photofocus Setting Spray-This product I’m still on the fence about, not because I don’t think it does its job but because it makes my face feel very tight. I guess that could be good if I have saggy, wrinkled skin but it’s not quite there yet. I will continue using this until it’s gone and hopefully I will get used to the feeling but I won’t be repurchasing this product again.

Here is a before shot after I applied all my makeup.

Here is a shot after my makeup had been on for 11 hours.

My eyeshadow is not as vibrant but that’s to be expected.

Beauty Basics-Primer

Hey everyone!! I decided to start a series on beauty basics. I love playing around with makeup but sometimes I, like a lot of people forget or don’t understand the basics of makeup. I’m not a professional by any stretch of the imagination. I just love makeup.

Today we are going to start with primer.

Why use primers- There are primers for the face, eyes and even lips. Primers help your makeup last longer and look amazing.

Face- Primers for your face helps the foundation last longer and fills in lines, wrinkles and pores to give you a smooth canvas to apply your makeup. Some primers even help with oily skin to help reduce shine.

Eye Shadow- Eye shadow primers make your eye shadow more vibrant, helps stop eye shadow from creasing and keeps it from budging all day.

Lips- Lip primers help keep lipstick from feathering into small lines around the mouth.

First you need to find the primer that’s best for your skin type.

  • Pore minimizing primer- helps reduce the appearance of pores.
  • Mattifying primer- helps to control oil for a matte finish.
  • Brightening primer- gives the skin a healthy glow
  • Smoothing primer- helps create a smooth base to apply foundation.

There are so many primers on the market, everything from drug store to high end.

High end primers have more options and I feel they use better ingredients that helps your makeup last longer.  Tarte has amazing primers.

Drug store primers have come a long way in the past couple of years. L’OREAL and NYX have some the best primers. I personally use the NYX Photo-Loving primer and I love it. Some people even use Nivea Post Shave Balm as a primer.

   From the Ulta website.
How to apply primers-

  • Always moisturize before applying face primers. This will help eliminate dry patches and will make the primers go on even.
  • Start from the middle of your face and work the primer out. Try avoiding the eye area.
  • A little primers goes a long way. You want a light coverage not heavy.
  • I use my clean finger tips to blend the primers out but you can also use a sponge.
  • After applying wait a couple minutes for the primer to set before applying foundation.

Eye shadow Primer-

  • Use a thin layer on your eye lid all the way up to your eye brows. Place in the corner of your eye and on your lower lid if you will be placing eye shadow there.

Lip primer-

  • Remember to exfoliate your lips to remove and dry skin.
  • Apply a thin layer of lip primer to clean dry lips.
  • In my opinion, exfoliating and lip balm work just as well as pricy lip primers.

After you apply your primer, you are all set to create whatever beautiful makeup look you would like without having to worry about it disappearing throughout the day.

Wet N Wild Primer and Setting Spray Review

When I saw that Wet n Wild had come out with primer and setting spray I was intrigued, I love the Wet n Wild Fergie eye shadow primer and I was hoping these would be just as good. Well…..

Wet n Wild Primer– claims to be “magic potion”, refine pores, fills fine lines, brightens complexion and evens skin tone.

My thoughts– This was not a “magic potion”. I don’t feel that it actually did anything at all. My pores and fine lines were still noticeable. If I would have used my foundation without the primer, I feel I would have had the same results. I will not be repurchasing.

Wet n Wild Setting Spray– On the bottle there are no directions or claims. I forgot to use this until after I applied my mascara, which was a huge mistake. I had mascara all over my eyes. Unless you have waterproof mascara, don’t spray after you apply mascara. That was a pain in the butt to fix.

My Thoughts– Since there are no claims printed on the bottle, I can’t say that the claims are false. But what I can say is that I don’t feel that this product in any way helped my makeup at all. It felt like I sprayed water on my face. My makeup didn’t last any longer than if I wouldn’t have used the setting spray. I will not be repurchasing.

I was hoping for a cheap alternative but you always get what you pay for, I’m just glad these were buy one get one 50% off.
